In the ongoing criminal trial of United States v Sam Bankman-Fried, Mark Cohen, the defense’s chief lawyer, confirmed that his client, Sam Bankman-Fried, founder of FTX, will testify at a federal courthouse in New York concerning the downfall of FTX.

Bankman-Fried will be among four individuals who will provide their testimonies under oath between the end of October and mid-November 2023. This follows after the prosecution calls its next witness, FBI special agent Mark Troyano, as reported by InnerCityPress.

Special agent Troyano is expected to present expert insight into the chat logs and the use of auto-deletion methods by Bankman-Fried during his leadership at the cryptocurrency exchange.

In a statement to Senior District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan, who is overseeing the trial, Cohen indicated that Bankman-Fried is likely to give his testimony from Oct. 26 to Oct. 27. The nature of Bankman-Fried’s account will guide the cross-examination approach by the prosecutor, Assistant United States Attorney Nicolas Roos, as highlighted.

For Bankman-Fried’s defense, witnesses to be called include financial consultant Joseph Pimbley, an attorney from the Bahamas, and one more individual. It’s worth noting that Peter Easton, who supplied the prosecution with a forensic overview of FTX’s operations, stated in his testimony that the founder was responsible for mismanaging a staggering sum of at least $9.3 billion from customer accounts.
