Former Blockstream executive and longtime bitcoin (BTC) advocate Samson Moe says he sees other countries adopting the leading crypto asset by market capitalization in the coming years.
In an interview with Kitco News, Mo, currently the CEO of bitcoin technology company JAN3, named a country that he thinks may soon adopt BTC.
“Well, it looks like Panama is coming. They’re just waiting for the president to sign a law. It was very unexpected, even the Central African Republic. It was unexpected. Has just come out of nowhere.
I think certainly within this year it is possible that we may see another. I’ve actually been working in several countries as well, with bitcoiners on the ground in different places. There are two routes here. One is actively pushing bitcoin, the other way is natural adoption where they figure it out for themselves and say ‘Okay we’re going to use bitcoin.’ Our prospects look good this year.”
Mo also revealed that he is working with celebrities in Mexico to promote bitcoin adoption in the country.
“I am working with some people in Mexico. Indra Kempis, she is a Mexican Senator. And also Ricardo Salinas, the Mexican Avengers team is trying to adopt bitcoin in Mexico. And a few others, I don’t want to be named right now. But there’s more to the game.”
Maui and Blockstream were the main architects behind El Salvador’s bitcoin bond, which the Central American nation plans to use to fund a new “Bitcoin City”.
