Disney is venturing into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by launching a mobile application named Disney Pinnacle, in collaboration with Dapper Labs, known for their NBA Top Shot collection. This innovative app, designed specifically for mobile use, will showcase a collection of unique NFTs resembling badges, all built on the Flow blockchain. The app’s initial launch will be on the Apple App Store, and interested users can sign up on the official website to join the waitlist.

The app experienced an exclusive early access phase for select users at 9:00 A.M. Post this initial phase, Disney Pinnacle will expand its availability to web browsers and the Google Play store, as confirmed by a representative from Dapper Labs to Coindesk.

Dapper Labs has been a significant player in the NFT landscape, having launched CryptoKitties, one of the initial NFT projects that gained widespread attention for congesting the Ethereum network. They further cemented their presence in the NFT market with the launch of NBA Top Shot in collaboration with the National Basketball Association during the 2020-21 bull market. This platform, focusing on the trading of tokenized NBA highlights, quickly became a highlight of the NFT boom. Leveraging this success, Dapper Labs expanded to include digital collectibles from other major sports leagues, including the NFL.

The Disney Pinnacle app aims to offer a trading experience for digital “pins” featuring Disney’s extensive range of intellectual properties. This initiative opens the door for beloved characters such as Baby Yoda, Woody and Buzz from “Toy Story,” and Snow White to be transformed into digital collectibles.
